Life Needs More Joss Whedon & More Buffy

Buffy With A Twist

I will forever be a hardcore fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  I remember when I fell in love, it was Darla passionately declared that Buffy couldn’t imagine what it was like to love someone for hundreds of years right before she was dusted.

One of my favorite all time moments of BtVS is Anya describing Thanksgiving as “a ritual sacrifice with pie.”  What’s yours? 🙂

BtVS was my first ever fanfic love. I adored Spike (ggod & bad). Favourite moment was the Thanksgiving lunch Buffy (absolutely going to have her mothers Thanksgiving, turned into fanatic Buffy) which was to be held at Giles’ condo. There were Indians firing arrows through the windows. Xander had every STD known & Willow was against the whole day & wasn’t actually doing anything to assist. Giles was getting drunk. Spike was tied to a chair & having to dodge arrows. Laughed & laughed. Still watch that episode when I need to cheer myself up. 🙂

I love it! Your description had me cracking up. That also happens to be the one where Anya says the line I love! One of the best holiday episode of television ever written! Thanks for sharing and making me laugh! 🙂 That was awesome.

Oh Man! I loved this show so much that I bought all of the books associated with it which as it turns out could be considered fanfiction! Around 100 books by various authors including stories about other slayers or OC’s.Now I find myself wondering what True Blood would have been like if the writers from Buffy worked on that show! Maybe some did! That would explain the similarities, like the triangle of B/S/A vs.B/S/E or the snark of Pam vs.Anya the antics of Jason vs.Zander, the sweet but deadliness of Willow vs.Jessica or the loyal bravery of Sam vs.Oz and lets not forget the edginess of Tara vs.Faith etc.I could go on and on. But getting back to favorite lines there are too many to list but a lot of them were in favorite episode Hush! That episode had no written lines and relied solely on gestures and action just brilliant! My fave had to be during Giles’ slideshow when Buffy made what looked like a lewd gesture and everybody looked at her like she was crazy until she grabbed a pencil and made a staking motion.I never laughed so hard watching so called sitcoms.

Loved the Thanksgiving one. It’s hilarious! Hush is in my Top Ten of favorites too. It’s really creepy and spooky and funny.

Hush was brilliant! First and only of its kind that I know of! For all this talk of the TB musical, folks forget that Joss did it first! I was thinking about the writers (I still stalk them in whatever they are doing now because it was in Buffy that I realized that the writer was the soul of my beloved characters as much as the actor) and I don’t think any of them were part of TB, but it could have been so awesome if they were. THEY UNDERSTOOD FANS!! I don’t think that HBO has much of a clue, or the writing team they had for TB. I say that not because of any one event but because of the way the arcs and canon were handled. Joss Whedon knows how to handle a story arc! And he understands metaphor and how to use it like, well, a stake to the heart. 🙂 He would get me for that one. Seriously, though, he knew how to do a solid story and keep the fans satisfied and right on the edge of their seats. I saw very little of that after Season 3 and none after 4 of TB. IF THEY EVER MAKE A TB MOVIE for the big screen I vote Joss write and direct because he fix all the wrongs that were perpetrated to the characters and the story lines.

Thank you so much for talking about Buffy with me. It always makes me happy to visit Sunnydale.

Obviously, every episode of Buffy was my favorite and I think I know every line of the movie. None of the TB writers wrote for Buffy, The Vampire Slayer or Angel. TB couldn’t draw that kind of talent. Joss Whedon was a genius with both shows. He knew what to do to pull in both a young & an older audience and just how to hold them both captive. I still watch syndicated episodes. Any time you want to visit Sunnydale, let me know. I’ll go!

I was feeling very nostalgic today about Sunnydale. Obviously :). I, too spent a lot of time watching those episodes and I think that I might have had lower expectations for TB if I had not been indoctrinated into the vampire genre by Joss Whedon and Buffy. I loved everything he did. I found myself often comparing Sookie and her friends to Buffy and they always came up short. I just was not inspired to care about their side stories like I was by Willow and Xander’s. I found some awesome Buffy art on line today and thought that I needed to try my hand at that fanfic. I feel like I would have to go back and watch again, though. Joss’ story telling is another mindset from CH and TB. First it was good, and he explored a lot of the depth that we get to play with in TB world. Less string to play with, if you know what I mean, but I know there are some moments I could turn upside down.
I have not had the pleasure to collaborate in this fanfic world, yet. Would you consider a collaboration with me if we can come up with a good idea? Going back to Sunnydale could be a soothing balm after what we have endured in TB. I know you will be very busy with the re-write team, but I would be honored if you would consider it. 🙂 Thanks for reading :).

I’m not a writer, but I’d love to work with you as an editor on content & proofing. I’d be very honored! It would be so much fun! 🙂

You got a deal. 🙂 Let me finish Come With Me Now and see what I can come up with. My wheels have been spinning…there is the night in the basement with B/S before they fight The First? Doppelgangland – what was alternate Buffy like?, What did Faith do on her own before she started hanging with The Scoobies? Who did Spike meet on his journey to Africa before he faced the trials to regain his soul? I also was interested in Giles and Joyce and their wild debauch in Candy. What about you? What would you like to know more about?
